If you're organising the holiday, this probably sounds familiar:

  • Friends saying they'll transfer later and forgetting
  • Accommodation deposits due while payments are still missing
  • One person fronting thousands and waiting to be repaid
  • Unclear who has paid for flights, villa or activities
  • Awkward reminders in the group chat

How it works

Three steps to collect holiday payments

Create a payment link

Set the amount per person and a clear deadline before booking anything.

Share with the group

Drop the link in your WhatsApp group. Everyone pays their share without creating an account.

See who's paid

Your dashboard shows confirmed payments instantly so you know who's in.

Why it works for group holidays

  • One organiser creates the link; everyone else just pays
  • Avoid fronting large accommodation deposits
  • Clear visibility before booking flights or villas
  • Use separate collections for flights, accommodation or activities
  • Set deadlines to lock in numbers

Why not just use bank transfer?

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

  • What's the best way to collect money for a group holiday?

Don't book anything until the money is in. Create a Kollect link with the per-person cost and a firm deadline, share it with the group, and only place deposits once you can see everyone has paid. That way you're never the person who fronted £1,500 for a villa and spent the next month chasing friends for their share.

  • Can I collect separate payments for flights and accommodation?

Yes, and the timing usually makes this the right approach. Accommodation deposits are often due before flights are booked, so run a separate collection for each. Open the accommodation link first, close it when the deposit is due, then open a flights or activities link when those costs crystallise. Each has its own amount and deadline and can be shared independently.

  • Do friends need to create an account to pay?

No accounts, no downloads. You drop the link in the group chat, they tap it, enter their card details, and pay. The only person who needs a Kollect account is whoever created the collection and is tracking who's in.

  • What happens if someone hasn't paid before the deadline?

They're not counted when you book. If the villa sleeps eight and only six have paid, you book for six and deal with the latecomers separately — or not at all. It's a firmer arrangement than a group chat promise, which means fewer last-minute surprises when accommodation deposits are non-refundable.
